Highest Potential Setups for Tuesday, October 2, 2001

Swiss Franc December Swiss Franc has fired NR7 and Inside Day signals for today's trading. The NR7 signal is triggered when the range of the day's trading is the narrowest of the last seven days. It tells us that we're likely to have a breakout in store either today, or over the next few days. The Inside Day signal is fired when the day's trading occurs within the range of the prior day. A subsequent breakout of an Inside Day's range typically points the way of the next trend move. Cycle Indicators (chart at right) have entered into a region where short term cyclical lows often form. The NR7/Inside Day signal combination tells us to stand prepared for a large impulse move in either direction. Trade the break of yesterday's .6195 high to .6170 low range with a stop and reverse on the opposite side as the entry. Price action relative to today's .6185 Daily Pivot level may provide clues for earlier entry.
Corn December Corn has fired Low Historical Volatility, Wide Range Day, 90-10 Low Continuation, and Momentum Pinball Buy signals for today's trading. The Low Historical Volatility signal tells us to expect range expansion and a pickup in volatility. The Wide Range Day signal implies that the expected expansion has just begun, and that yesterday's principle trade direction (lower) points the most likely way for the next trend move. The 90-10 Low Continuation signal tells us that yesterday's late day move lower is likely to continue on into today. The Momentum Pinball Buy signal suggests that IF the first hour's high happens to be broken, the market is telling us something completely different than originally assessed, and we'd want to consider a long position. Both the larger and more immediate trends are to lower prices (chart at right). Odds favor further downside in today's early trading. Sell the break of yesterday's 210^1 low with a stop just above the 211^2 level of the Daily Pivot. Price weakness below the DP may provide clues for earlier entry.
