Highest Potential Setups for Friday, March 2, 2001

Canadian Dollar Yesterday's Highest Potential Setup in the Canadian Dollar resulted in a sharp move to lower prices. Pattern Signals fired for today's trading imply even more downside to follow. The March Canadian Dollar contract has fired 90-10 Low Continuation and Momentum Pinball Buy signals for today's trading. The 90-10 Low Continuation signal is fired when the day's trading closes within the bottom 10% of the day's range. It tells us that yesterday's late day move lower is likely to continue on into today. The Momentum Pinball Buy signal suggests that IF the first hour's high happens to be broken, the market is telling us something completely different than originally assessed, and we'd want to consider a long position. Cycle Indicators (chart at left) appear as if a short term cyclical top has just been marked, and the more immediate trend is to lower prices. Odds favor further downside in early morning trade. Sell the break of yesterday's .6457 low with a stop just above the .6476 level of the Daily Pivot. Price weakness below the DP may provide clues for earlier entry.
Heating Oil April Heating Oil has fired Low Historical Volatility, NR7, 2 Day ROC Buy, and High Breakout Continuation Setup signals for today's trading. The NR7 and Low Historical Volatility signal tells us that this market has been experiencing an extended period of range contraction, which should result in a pickup in price activity. The 2 Day ROC Buy signal implies that it will be to the upside. The High Breakout Continuation Setup signal suggests significant upside IF yesterday's high can be taken out. The Low Historical Volatility/NR7 combination can be so volatile that you don't want to be caught on the wrong side. Be ready for a move either way. Trade the break of yesterday's .7195 high to .7050 low range with a stop and reverse on the opposite side as the entry. Price action relative to today's .7135 Daily Pivot level may provide clues for earlier entry.
