Highest Potential Stock
Setups for Friday, January 28, 2000

Amazon.com
AMZN has fired NR4, 2 Day ROC Buy, and High Breakout Continuation Setup signals for today's trading. The NR4 signal tells us to expect range expansion and a pickup in volatility. The 2 Day ROC Buy signal suggests that it will be to the upside. The High Breakout Continuation Setup signal implies significant upside IF yesterday's high can be taken out. Half Day Cycle Indicators are too mixed and choppy to make any directional determinations, but the more immediate trend is to lower prices. Trade the break of yesterday's 67.750 high to 64.625 low range. If entered long, place a stop and reverse on the break of yesterday's low. If entered short, stop and reverse on the break of yesterday's high. Price action relative to today's 66.438 Daily Pivot level may provide clues for earlier entry.

Microsoft
MSFT has fired NR4 and High Breakout Continuation Setup signals for today's trading. The NR4 signal tells us that this market has been undergoing a period of contraction, and that we're likely to have a breakout of the prior day's range in store either today, or over the next few days. The High Breakout Continuation Setup signal implies significant upside IF yesterday's high can be taken out. Cycle Indicators have moved into a region where short term cyclical bottoms often form, but the more immediate trend is to lower prices. So much so, that we wouldn't normally consider a long. But our High Breakout Continuation signal tells us that we'd want to participate should the market move in that direction. Trade the break of yesterday's 101.188 high to 97.250 low range with a stop and reverse on the opposite side as the entry. Price action relative to today's 99.063 Daily Pivot level may provide clues for earlier entry.

MCI Worldcom
WCOM has fired an NR7 signal for today's trading. The NR7 signal tells us that this market has been undergoing a period of contraction, and that we're likely to have a breakout of the prior day's range in store either today, or over the next few days. Cycle Indicators are too mixed and choppy to make a directional determination, but the more immediate trend is to lower prices. A classic flat-bottomed wedge formation has taken shape (chart at left), which usually results in a break to the downside . . . but a break to the topside could mean a significant move higher. It would be best to be ready for a move in either direction. Trade the break of yesterday's 42.375 high to 41.250 low range with a stop and reverse on the opposite side as the entry. Price action relative to today's 41.917 Daily Pivot level may provide clues for earlier entry.
